EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill
On September 22nd, the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill was published. This will automatically repeal any EU law which is still retained in the UK by 31 December 2023.
Whilst the Bill allows for an extension until 31 December 2026, this could mean we see a whole host of traditional EU rights being repealed unless specific legislation has been put in place to retain such rights. Our employment solicitor, Amy Sadler, has commented on the published Bill:
“This Bill is likely to allow the government to pick and choose which employment rights will be retained in UK law moving forward. We cannot predict, at this stage, what employment rights we can expect to expire come the deadline in 2023.
It will be interesting to watch this space and see how the employment law landscape is likely to change.”
As ever, we at Macks Solicitors will be keeping up-to-date with these changes and are ready and able to help our clients through this changing legal landscape.
