A man to have part of his finger amputated after it got entangled in unguarded machinery used to cut metal.
The 36-year-old was working at heat recovery unit manufacturer Air Design (UK) Limited in Dudley when the accident happened in March.
Dudley Magistrates’ Court fined the company, of Washington Centre, Halesowen Road, Netherton, £2,000 plus £632.68 in costs and a victim surcharge of £120 after it pleaded guilty to breaches of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.
Health and Safety Executive inspector Karl Raw said: “The need to guard dangerous machinery is well known, with established industry guidance available in relation to standards and methods.”
