Compensation payment in back injury settlements varies
01Jul
A nurse who worked in an Intensive Care Unit has been awarded a compensation payment of £800,000 in one of the biggest back injury settlements of its kind. There was no mechanical hoist available so the nurse and one other member of staff moved a patient by hand. As a result, he tore a vertebral disc which caused intense pain and meant that he had to leave his job. Back injuries are common in the British work force. Approximately 49% of the UK population will suffer from back pain for at least one day in any one year.
